Bryan McQueen-Mason

Always creative my first acting role was at age 4 in "Water Under the Bridge". I have always been a singer-songwriter and I wrote my first feature script at 17.
My father, Edward 'Ted' McQueen-Mason, is a legend of Australian post-production and my main mentor when I first started as a 2nd assistant in 1998 - whilst trying to get my musical ("Expressions - The Bluesical"), writing and acting in amateur theatre in Adelaide.

I assisted on features and supervised post-production on the ill-fated series "Chuck Finn".

In 2004 Ted and I got on a train to Perth to work on Parallax with Great Western Entertainment for producer Paul Barron. I started doing some assembly editing and on the next series "Streetsmartz" was promoted to editor. We made 39x1/2 hour episodes of kid's TV. Each episode was shot in 1 day, 1 day to 1st Cut, 1 day directors cut, 1 day producers cut, 1 day LOCK and handover.
GWE went on to produce and employ me as an editor, a writer, post-supervisor, and even actor. We made 13×1/2 kid's show "Wormwood" and 26x1/2 hr family/early prime-time sci-fi "Stormworld".
A glut and a cut in kid's tv meant that a second season "Stormworld" didn't happen, neither did any other of Paul's kid's production in development.
Although Paul produced a few documentary series and drama series "Serangoon Road" his company and that source of work had vanished by 2010. I did a few weeks on "Neighbours" but struggled to find consistent work in Perth.
I dropped in and out of the industry for a few years eventually finding some consistency between smaller local series work ("Family Rules", "Thalu") and reality work ("MasterChef", "Survivor All Stars") in Sydney up until early 2020...
Another hiatus until November 2020 with a pick-up in Perth production.
Recent work includes, "Red Dirt Riders" for Weerianna Street Media and NITV and "The Bizarre Pet Vets" for Metamorflix and Nine/STAN.
I am currently in production on "Our Law" season 1 (6 x 1/2 hrs) for Periscope Pictures/Pink Pepper and NITV as post-production supervisor and editor. As part of the process I have been implementing an adapted workflow based on larger scale productions I have worked on at Endemol Shine. This has involved training producers, assembly editors (local and remote) and senior Perth editors in Avid and collaborative workflows. It's still a WIP but exciting... We have an amazing team led by producers Sam Field and Taryne Laffar. With expert tech support from Ivan Rojas we are building a shoot to delivery (offsite sound edit/mix only) post house with regional employment opportunities for WA.
