Lawrence Silvestrin ASE
Lawrie has worked as a drama and documentary picture and sound editor for over thirty years. During that time he has been nominated for nine AFI/AACTA Awards winning two for Best Editing and two for Best Sound. Many of the films he has edited have gone on to win awards all over the world.
Among his many drama credits are the feature films PIECES, AVARICE, GREAT WHITE, JUSTICE, BLACKFELLAS and BABE, the primetime ABC/HBO television series SERANGOON ROAD, the STAN/LIONSGATE series POPULATION 11, the drama series SLEEPOVER CLUB 2, FOREIGN EXCHANGE, OCEAN STAR, WILDKAT, THE ADVENTURES OF CHUCK FINN, FAST TRACKS, SHIP TO SHORE, SWEAT and CLOWNING AROUND ENCORE and numerous short dramas including the award-winning JUDAS COLLAR, KARROYUL, BARROW and THE OWL.
Lawrie’s documentary credits include the feature length documentaries WILD BUTTERFLY, DYING TO LIVE and WHITELEY, which won four AACTA Awards including two for Lawrie for Best Editing and Best Sound. His other documentary credits include DESERT WAR for which he won the AACTA Award for Best Editing in a Non-Feature as well as the ASE Ellie Award for Best Editing in a Documentary Series.
Lawrie has a number of documentary writing credits and has conducted courses for the Australian Film Television and Radio School, the WA Screen Academy and Curtin University. As well, he has been Chairman of the WA Branch of the Australian Screen Editors Guild and has been awarded ASE Accreditation for his many editing achievements and his years of service to the screen editing community culminating at the 2016 WA Screen Awards where he was awarded the Screenwest Outstanding Contribution To The Industry Award and then in 2022 when he was made an Honorary Life Member of the ASE.
