In this episode of Final_Final_Locked, our host Sally Fryer ASE chats with Matt Villa ASE ACE and Wayne Pashley. They discuss the relationship between picture and sound editors in relation to their collaboration on the 2022 film Elvis.
Matt Villa ASE ACE is a multi-award winning editor working in Australian feature films. Starting as an assistant editor on Babe, he has since edited The Great Gatsby, The Water Diviner and Predestination. In 2023 he was nominated for an oscar for his editing work on Elvis (which he also won the much more important Ellie for).
Wayne Pashley is a multi-award winning sound designer with over 100 film credits, which include Babe, Happy Feet, The Great Gatsby, and Mad Max Fury Road. In 1993 he founded Big Bang Sound with his partner Libby Villa. In 2023 he was nominated for an oscar for his sound design work on Elvis.
