On Wednesday 9th October, ASE Qld took part in QEST, the Queensland Emerging Screen Talent Conference, which is now part of Brisbane International Film Festival. Along with the other guilds and universities, we ran a stall at the careers fair, then Tony McGrath and Stewart Tyrrell ran a session on building professional pathways in post-production.
Tony spoke about making your way as a commercial Editor, starting with his early work in music videos then progressing on to commercials in Brisbane, Sydney and Los Angeles. Stewart focused on his long history in corporate work and his new upcoming feature film project, 'Brisbane'. It was great to see so many enthusiastic faces, and the pair fielded many questions on how young practitioners can kickstart their film journey.
