Alexander Archer

Originally from Melbourne, I moved to England in 1991 for a two year break to see the other side of the world. After 8 months of back packing around Europe, I began work in a production company as an edit assistant. I now have experience editing broadcast television going back to 1995, and have been successfully employed on a freelance basis since 1998. After nearly 22 years in the UK I returned to Australia at the end of 2012. I have worked on a wide range of short and long form projects, including factual, observational, natural history, historical and science based documentaries, dramatic reconstruction or docudrama, reality, and weekly and daily fast turn round current affairs programs.
Documentary films I have edited have won several awards, including two Emmys, a Peabody, an AIB, a du-Pont Columbia Silver Baton and several Royal Television Society awards and ATOM awards.
I pride myself on having always had extremely good working relationships and have worked many times with the same directors, and I am comfortable working on my own as shooting continues. I have worked extensively with both English and US broadcasters, including BBC1, 2, 3 and 4, Channel 4 and 5 and ITV, National Geographic, Discovery, PBS and History, as well as Chinese ( CCTV ), Japanese ( NHK ) and now Australian with SBS, ABC, Foxtel and Channel 10.
I am proficient in Avid, FCP and Premier Pro.
