ROLE OVERVIEW

About the Australian Screen Editors

The Australian Screen Editors’ Guild (ASE) is the peak body representing Editors, Assistant Editors, and Post Production professionals in Australia. For over 30 years, we have been advocating for Editors’ rights and visibility. 

We recognise and celebrate excellence in screen editing through awards, mentoring, and accreditation. We champion professional standards, conditions, and remuneration for Editors and Post Production Workers.

The two key missions for the ASE are (1) Industrial Advocacy and (2) creating Access and Opportunity for Editors and post-production professionals.

The ASE is governed by a National Executive Committee, supported by State Committees across Australia and a small professional staff who deliver the Guild’s programs and services.

About the Role

The Memberships and Communications Coordinator (MCC) is responsible for engaging and supporting the ASE membership while leading the Guild’s communications across digital platforms.

This is a diverse role that combines relationship management, communications, marketing and administration. You will play an important role in ensuring members receive an outstanding experience while helping promote the work, advocacy and initiatives of the ASE.

Working closely with the Business Manager, President and Executive Committee, you will help strengthen the Guild’s connection with its members and the wider Australian screen industry.

This is a remote part-time position (20 hours per week) with flexible working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Membership Growth & Engagement

  • Act as the primary point of contact for ASE members and prospective members.
  • Manage all membership enquiries, renewals and applications.
  • Maintain the membership database and ensure member records remain accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor membership trends and prepare regular reports for the Executive Committee.
  • Continuously review and improve the member experience across all touchpoints.

2. Communications & Marketing

  • Develop and implement the ASE’s communications strategy.
  • Produce engaging communications across email, website and social media platforms. Coordinate media releases, press kits and media communications.
  • Manage the ASE website, ensuring information remains current and accurate.
  • Supervise the fortnightly member newsletter.
  • Develop promotional campaigns for ASE programs, events, awards and advocacy initiatives.
  • Maintain a consistent ASE brand, tone of voice and visual identity.
  • Monitor marketing performance and provide recommendations based on analytics and engagement data.

3. Organisational Support

  • Attend monthly Executive Committee meetings when required.
  • Support State Committees through regular communication and administrative assistance.
  • Match expenses and raise invoices for payment within accounting software.
  • Coordinate the administration of Ellie Awards entries and ticketing.
  • Prepare judging materials and assist with communications throughout the awards process.
  • Assist with administrative projects and organisational initiatives as required.

Selection Criteria

Essential Experience

  • Experience in membership services, stakeholder engagement or customer relationship management.
  • Experience in communications, marketing or digital content creation.
  • Experience managing websites, email marketing and social media platforms.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience working independently in a remote environment.
  • Experience using WordPress, Canva, Mailchimp, Microsoft.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within a not-for-profit, arts or membership organisation.
  • Knowledge of the Australian screen industry.
  • Understanding of post-production workflows.
  • Event coordination experience.
  • Experience using or the ability to quickly learn Xero, Stripe, MMS
  • Graphic design or digital content creation skills.

Remunerations

  • This is a 20 hour a week position.
  • Remote working arrangement with flexible hours. 
  • Rate: $760 per week plus 12% Superannuation 
  • Holidays – 4 weeks Annually (80 hours) The ASE office closes for 3 weeks from Christmas Eve. The timing of the remaining leave to be negotiated.
  • Remote working allowance – $20 p/week (phone/internet/etc).
  • Additional hours may be required at peak periods, including in the lead up to the annual awards, at the approval of the Executive Committee. The additional hours will be paid at a rate of $38 p/h + super

Conditions

  • The ASE Memberships and Communications Co-ordinator is a remote position, communicating with the National Executive and membership via email, online meeting rooms and telephone.
  • At least 10 hours per week must be completed during standard business hours.
  • The ASE Memberships and Communications Co-ordinator must supply their own computer, mobile phone and internet connection.
  • Must be available when required to attend the monthly evening meetings held via Zoom on the first Tuesday of every month from 7pm to 9:00pm (except for January).
  • Occasional interstate travel may be required. All approved travel expenses will be covered by the ASE.
  • Hot desk available at Potts Point Sydney, however a Sydney applicant is not essential.
